An important single exhibition of Maty Grunberg in "Ariella" Central Library of Tel-Aviv - "One Haggadah, Two Scrolls, Three Cycles of Life". The exhibition includes three of his major artist books - “The Book of Esther”, “Passover Haggadah”, also called “The Bezalel Haggadah”, and “The Book of Ruth”. The three books are tied to the Jewish canon at their very core. All three were printed manually in an oversize format and published in limited editions in London. Published in 1975, “The Book of Esther” with a free translation by the poet, Natan Zach. The second book, “Passover Haggadah”, also called “The Bezalel Haggadah” after the New York Bezalel Foundation, which had sponsored the project, was published in 1984. “The Book of Ruth” was published in 1986, sponsored by Lord Marks and translated freely by Israeli poet, Linda Zisquit. This was the first time all three books were exhibited at once, creating a meaningful and powerful experience for the visitors. |
